Anna's first spring break. This past week was spring break. I only worked two half days and we spent a couple of nights away from the house. Did we go on a fun trip? Not even close. Diana called me from daycare on Monday afternoon telling me that Anna had a fever and was acting like she didn't feel good. After a torturous visit to the doctor,(blood test, shot, and x-rays) we find out she had pneumonia. That night her fever was 102.8. We went back on Tuesday. Another shot. Then we went back on Thursday. Her oxygen level was very low and she was not getting any better. They admitted her into the hospital. She had an oxygen tube in her nose, and they gave her breathing treatments. Poor girl got poked unsuccessfully several times. They could not get a vein to get an IV in. After several attempts the doctor told them to stop. She wasn't too dehydrated and they would give her medicine orally. Same thing happened each time they tried to get blood. It's hard on a mom to hold her down and listen to her scream and cry. She was so good though. For the most part, she kept the oxygen tube in her nose. A few times she'd rub her nose and pull it out. Here she is on the second day. Feeling much better.
She was in a huge industrial metal crib. I don't think I could have broken out of it if you would have put me in there. Saturday afternoon we got to come home. We were all exhausted, and spent the rest of Saturday and Sunday resting. My mom, Miss Lilly and Diana all made us food that helped so much. If only Anna had a few more teeth, she would have really enjoyed it!

Anna's doing much better and still on breathing treatments.

So sorry you had to go through that--that is the reason I never wanted to work peds in the hospital:-( I am glad she is feeling better--Caleb had pneumonia/RSV when he was about her age and had to be on breathing treatments but he really hasn't had any serious illness since. I hope you all get some rest!

What a horrible Spring Break. Poor kid. However, that second picture of her melted my heart. I am glad she is better.

How scary! It breaks my heart to see her with all those tubes in her little nose. Poor Anna. I'm so glad she's feeling better.
